The Solution
A sustainable photobiological solution to decontaminate seeds, fruit and vegetables and water improving shelf life, nutrients and health benefits whilst reducing chemicals use, food loss and waste. Boxilumix® has been awarded by Solar Impulse Foundation.
Case Study
In 2020 the technology was validated on various fruit and vegetables (carrot, garlic, apple, lettuce, strawberry, grape …) in order to assess impact on preservation.
Shelf life was quadrupled for carrots, tripled for apples and doubled for garlic with a weight loss of less than 50% when compared to a reference.
The proof of concept is continuing both through laboratory tests, with a garlic producer and an international fruits association gathering 2000 producers.
