The IFWC is pleased to announce the publication of its 2024 report, which reveals that contract catering companies involved in our program have collectively reduced food waste by 25% over the past five years, putting us halfway to our goal of cutting food waste by 50%.
Our initiative has now reached nearly 4,000 contract catering sites worldwide, reflecting an impressive 100% growth since 2022, with an ambitious target to expand to 10,000 sites in the coming year.
While the progress so far has been remarkable, further efforts are essential, as achieving additional food waste reductions will require greater collaboration, a focus on specific areas such as demand forecasting and consumer engagement, and the ability to establish specific food waste reduction targets for each segment.
This is where the IFWC provides support through our unique and collaborative actions.
