Approach

As the consumer-facing entry point to the whole value chain, the hospitality and food service sector is in a unique position to work with both food producers and food processors.

At the International Food Waste Coalition, we leverage this position to lead a collaborative farm-to-fork approach against food loss and waste. We measure and report food waste rates along the value chain to enable the setting of smart targets. We share best practices and market intelligence, conduct trials and test out new innovations.

We are the voice on food loss and waste for Europe’s hospitality and food service industry, representing the interests of the sector at EU and regulatory level.

Our Goals

1 Set the target

Engage the European Hospitality and Mass Catering sectors toward a 50% reduction of Food Loss and waste by 2030.

2 Engage the value chain

Engage the entire HaFS value chain on food waste reduction through working groups.

3 Scale up

Scale up impactful solutions to accelerate FLW reduction across the sector.

4 Report

Populate national and international databases to report against SDG 12.3.
